ME-02 The Restoration Period in English literature 1640-1700

Students were familiarized with the socio-political background of the Restoration period in English Literature and were acquainted with the major literary trends of the period. They also learnt to relate literary texts with the socio-political contexts of the Restoration period.

ME-03 The Augustan Period in English Literature 1700-1798

Students were acquainted with the major literary trends as well as the socio-political background of the Augustan period in English literature. Students were able to read literary texts in the context of socio-political history.

ME-04 A Women’s Writing in English

Students became aware of the basic concepts of feminism as well as the tradition of women’s writing. They were also able to read women’s writing in the context of modern literature.

Students were acquainted with the socio-political background of Romanticism in English Literature. They were also introduced to the major works of the Romantic period written in English. They understood the philosophical ideas generated during this period and read literary texts in relation to them.

Students were acquainted with the intellectual and socio-political background of the Victorian period. They understand the major literary works of the period to their social contexts.
